At the age of thirteen, any person can obtain their Training License from designated distributors. A Training License allows a person to legally own and battle Pokmon.
Once a year, Pokmon trainers can enlist in a Pokmon league. Official League battles are any battles that take place between two members of the league. Gym battles, Invitational, major tournaments, etc usually televised. Once a year, the championship tournament is held, where trainers with at least eight gym badges compete to be recognized as the best trainer in the league. Unless previously agreed otherwise, official league battles are six-on-six, free substitution. The exception to this is Gym Leaders in gym battles, who are not allowed substitution.
It's the year 2050, the World of Pokmon has changed severely, the battles have changed, and several more Pokmon have come into existence, you have just started your Pokmon journey, determined to encounter and record as many Pokmon as possible as you travel to the many Islands, including Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Barsh, Krinil, Ander, Dracosk and the last being Battle Frontier, you start off at Trainer Island, where you get arranged into groups of Three or Four, then you all head off to the first Island of choice.
